Yellow Flag Iris, Yellow Water Iris
Iris pseudacorus is a large herbaceous perennial with tall narrow green green leaves appearing in spring, followed in early summer by yellow flowers made up of three outer hanging petals (falls) and three inner upright petals (standards). Suitable for a larger ponds or naturalising in lakes. UK Native plant.
Water depth: 5 – 20cm water cover (measured from the growing point of the plant).
Spread: Iris pseudacorus is a vigorous plants with an ultimate spread of 1-1.5m (3-5ft) once established.
Flowering time: June to August.
Planting time: Plant rhizomes should be potted spring to early autumn. For this variety we would recommend planting one rhizome into a 2L fine mesh basket or larger.
Aspect: Position in full sun or partial-shade.
Hardiness: Fully hardy.
