The water lily Nymphaea ‘Irene Heritage’, is a medium plant with rose red flowers. Suitable for medium pools. This rare waterlily was hybridized by Perry D. Slocum in the USA in 1988. It was a chance seedling of Nymphaea ‘Atropurpurea’. Named after the wife of late British water gardening author Bill Heritage.
Water depth: 25-50cm (measured from the growing point of the plant)
Spread: This variety should have an ultimate spread of 80cm (2.5ft) once established.
Flowering time: June to September.
Planting time: Plant rhizomes should be potted during the growing season only, in the spring and summer. For this variety of waterlily we would recommend planting your rhizome into a 3.5L planting crate.
Aspect: Position in full sun, ideally with a minimum of 6 hours of sunshine each day.
Hardiness: Fully hardy, grown outdoors in our lily ponds.
We only sell healthy rhizomes with a productive crown. These should flower the same year as planting when following our instructions on caring for your water plants.
