Description
Nymphaea ‘Joey Tomocik’ is a large flowering plant and one of the deepest of yellow coloured waterlilies. A large plant that really needs a large container. Best in larger ponds or lakes. This hybrid was created by Kirk Strawn, USA, in 1993.
Water depth: 45-90cm (1.5-3ft), measured from the growing point of the plant.
Spread: Nymphaea ‘Joey Tomocik’ should have an ultimate spread of 120cm (4ft) once established.
Awards: RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Flowering time: June to September.
Planting time: Plant rhizomes should be potted during the growing season only, in the spring and summer. For this variety of waterlily we would recommend planting your water lily rhizome into a 10L fine mesh basket or, if room allows, a 30L fine mesh basket.
Aspect: Position in full sun, ideally with a minimum of 6 hours of sunshine each day.
Hardiness: Fully hardy, grown outdoors in our lily ponds. We do not “force” our waterlilies in greenhouses or polytunnels so they are fully hardy and ready to be planted out straight away.
We only sell healthy rhizomes with a productive crown. These should flower the same year as planting when following our instructions on caring for your water plants. Before posting your plant we wash off any soil and weeds attached to the rhizome, ensure there is no damage to emerging buds and leaves, and trim off any old growth.
